About This Project

Following the Won’t You Be My Neighbor? series, a combination of the racial unrest in the US and the global pandemic led to the next phase in our Diversity and Inclusion work with the Nike NXT team. Now and Zen selected the film I Am Not Your Negro to spark more direct and open conversations around racism and its history in our country. The film also helps give context to what is currently happening in our world in a clear, honest, and full perspective.

Although the I Am Not your Negro series is virtual, we have made every effort to create the same environment that made the in-person program a success. Each session is grounded in truth, safety and transparency, pushing participants to answer thought-provoking questions around topics such as apathy, ignorance, education, and personal responsibility. The result is a robust conversation in which every participant gets to share their story as well as challenge themselves to take courageous and authentic action.

We kicked off the virtual series in June 2020, producing 3-4 sessions a week. So far, we have hosted over 480 people across the NXT community in 56 sessions total.
